Memorial Day

This morning we went out early to visit the graves, and for some reason it seemed a little more special this time. The older the grandkids get the more they want to know about the people we visit.

We stopped by the Cooleys

We gathered at Granny Peels

We went by to see Uncle Dennis

Kade

After the camera class that the girls gave me for my birthday I wanted to try some of the things we went over with my camera. It just so happens the Kade will be 8 years old this month and Gina ask me to take a few pictures of him. So Kade and I went out on a Saturday afternoon and took a few pictures. Here are three of them. I still have a lot to learn. I must say that I still feel that I'm the most blessed person on earth, and spending a little with Kade made me feel so even more.

Sweets for My Sweetheart

The other day Mother was looking for a little treat to take to her Visiting Teacher Ladies and found this on the Internet at VeryBestBaking.com. I’m not into a lot of little sweets but I must say that these are really good so I thought that I would pass it along.

Here’s the recipe:

36 Nestle Butterfinger Hearts or Nestle Crunch Hearts unwrapped

½ cup Granulated sugar

½ cup packed brown sugar

½ cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened

½ cup creamy peanut butter

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour

¾ teaspoon baking soda

Preheat oven to 375
Beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, butter and peanut in large mixer bowl until combined; beat in egg and vanilla extract. Beat in flour and baking soda.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoon into ungreased mini-muffin cups.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, remove from oven; gently press 1 Nestle Heart into each cup. Cool in pans on wire racks for at least 10 minutes. Remove cookies from muffin cups with a butter knife. Serve warm or cool completely on wire racks.
